The Arab Urban development Institute (AUDI) founded in
1980 with permanent headquarters in Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia
is a regional, non-governmental, non-profit urban research, technical
and consulting organization. The Institute is affiliated with the
Arab Towns Organization (ATO), with headquarters in Kuwait. The
Institute serves as the technical and scientific arm of (ATO). The
institute has active membership of more than 400 Arab cities and
towns representing 22 Arab countries.
A major goal of the Institute is the enhancement of the quality
of municipal services in Arab towns and cities. This is achieved
through professional and technical support to municipalities and
municipal officials and administrators. The Institute is also dedicated
to the improvement and preservation of the Islamic and Arab character
and heritage of Arab Towns.

Objectives:
AUDI, within its areas of concern seeks to achieve the following
objectives:
1. Enhance the Arab city standard while maintaining its Arabic
identity, historical characteristics and architectural, physical
and cultural heritage as well as highlighting its originality and
distinctive features.
2. Foster communication and cooperation among Arab cities , ATO,
and other cities and organizations that have relative concerns.
3. Identifying the problems that confront cities and municipalities
and seeking solutions for difficulties that constrain development
and improvement. This is achieved through presenting scientific
and technical expertise or through activating AUDI’s scientific
and practical activities to the city at its request.
4. Conducting studies and researches on the Arab city in the economic,
social , technical, physical and environmental areas.
5. Providing consultative professional services to Arab cities
in the field of urban planning, housing and municipal services as
well as other fields of AUDI activities.
6. Introduce the Arab city to the world community through its present
and future administrative features as well as displaying its various
historical stages
7. Capacity building by preparing qualified personnel to administer
the cities through modern scientific means and approaches
8. Establishing center(s) to collect information data, documents
and statistics and to conduct classification, categorization, analyzing
and processing them according to modern scientific systems.
