The Center
for Digital Government is an international research and advisory
institute providing government, industry and education leaders with
decision support, research and educational resources to help them
effectively incorporate new technologies in the 21st century. The
mission of Government Technology International is to help improve
conditions and the quality of life by providing information on the
application of ICT to democratic government, effective education
and non-governmental organizations. GTI is a monthly newsletter
focusing on government IT activities around the world. It contains
major announcements, trends, statistics, general interest stories,
best practices and more on e-government at the international level.

City Development Strategies Initiative (CDSI) is a UK based
development practice devoted to developing effective communications
between cities in Latin America, Africa and Asia, and the rest of
the world. CDSI aims to improve sustainable urban management and
development by exposing urban decision makers to a wide variety
of expertise, guidance and shared experience.

The
Development Marketplace is a forum to encourage cooperation
within the development community in the search for solutions to
reduce poverty. The Development Marketplace is a program that promotes

The site offers online information including Best Practices on renewable
energy, efficiency, and sustainable development. It is also the
home of websites for more than 50 renewable energy organizations.
Knowledge Management - Production and Consumption
The
International Human Dimensions Programme on Industrial Transformation
(IHDP-IT) is a global research initiative designed to promote
better understanding of complex society-environment interactions,
identify driving forces for change, and explore development strategies
that have a significantly smaller burden on the environment. The
research focuses on the required changes in production and consumption
systems to meet the needs and aspirations of a growing world population.
Research priorities include: (i) Energy and Material Flows; (ii)
Food production and consumption; (iii) Cities with focus on water
and transport; (iv) Information and Communication; and (v) Governance
and Transformation Processes. Each of these areas will be addressed
through the research projects beginning in 2000.
Knowledge Management - Community Development
Sustainable
Community Development web site is hosted by the U.S State and
Local Government Gateway - a Federal interagency project in collaboration
with Vice President Al Gore's National Partnership for Reinventing
Government. The site contains a Sustainable Development Resources
database which has information on local, national and international
organizations and government agencies currently active in the development
of sustainable technologies and methods. The site is also rich in
information regarding Land Use Planning, Transportation, Resource
Efficiency, Sustainable Business and Disaster Planning.
Knowledge Management - Local Authority
The
European Local Government Officers (ELGO) database is the main
source for identifying people responsible for primary functions
in over 14,000 local and regional authorities from 27 European countries.
The database is available for rental at very large discounts for
non-profit making organisations. The system currently holds more
than 56,000 named decision makers with all job titles expressed
in the local language. The software enables full search facilities
and allows the user to build their own contacts into the system
before outputting data in a format to suit their needs and to meet
objectives within the academic and research community.
